Your Role And Responsibilities

As a QA/Test Development Engineer, you’ll contribute to the design, testing, and support of IBM’s industry-leading technologies, including IBM zSystems, IBM Power Systems, IBM Storage, IBM Quantum Systems, with responsibilities such as but not limited to:

  • Install and test hardware systems hands-on.
  • Validate and characterize processors and systems.
  • Support customers and field engineers with technical solutions.
  • Design and test firmware architectures.
  • Analyze failures and improve system reliability.
  • Automate test suites and simulate customer environments.
  • Develop and document test plans and procedures.
  • Contribute to internal and external code repositories.
  • Collaborate with global development teams.
  • Install, configure, and validate AI Large Language Models (LLMs).

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

Skills We’re Looking For

  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as C++, C, Java, Ruby, Python, Perl, SQL
  • Experience with application development and databases.
  • Ability to design scalable APIs, servers, services, and applications.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Strong communication, design, problem solving and testing skills.
  • Curiosity, creativity, and a client-first mindset.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

  • Familiarity with Industry-Leading Practices: Exposure to industry-leading practices for exploratory testing and test automation, including unit tests, integration tests, and functional tests.
  • Basic Understanding of Quality Technologies: Knowledge of quality technologies and testing standards, including their application in ensuring product robustness and failure scenario refactoring.
  • Exposure to Defect Analysis Tools: Familiarity with tools and techniques used for defect identification, root cause analysis, and prevention methods.
