Field Technician – Contractor
Duration: 12-month contract with potential for permanent hire
Focus: Field support, project work, break/fix, and site reconnaissance/documentation
Overview
Seeking field-based contractor to support clinic locations with project work, break/fix, site maintenance, and network documentation. This is a hands-on, travel-heavy role involving on-site installations, troubleshooting, cable cleanup, equipment identification, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Network Hardware Refresh
- Remove/decommission legacy switches, firewalls, and access points
- Install new network hardware following project runbooks
- Support site cutovers and network installations
Site Recon & Documentation
- Perform on-site discovery of network equipment and endpoints
- Identify equipment, cabling, racks, connections, and physical infrastructure
- Trace cable routes and document network configurations
- Create/update as-builts, diagrams, and inventory documentation
- Use toning kits and basic field tools
- Label cables and equipment as needed
Cable & Closet Cleanup
- Dress, label, and organize cabling
- Remove dead/unused cable runs
- Clean up MDF/IDF closets and organize network equipment
Dispatch / Break-Fix
- Respond to on-site support tickets
- Perform endpoint moves, adds, installations, and basic troubleshooting
Project Support
- Assist with new site builds, moves, and consolidations
- Install workstations, printers, phones, and other endpoint equipment
Requirements
- Basic to intermediate networking knowledge
- Comfortable identifying and labeling network equipment
- Ability to perform basic patching and cabling
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organization and documentation skills
- Reliable and willing to travel regularly between sites
- Hands-on field technician experience preferred
Travel / Geographic Coverage
- Primary coverage: Phoenix metro area
- Regular travel between multiple clinic sites
- Potential travel throughout Arizona, including Yuma
- Additional travel may include Las Vegas, Southern California, Southern New Mexico, and West Texas
- Candidates must be comfortable with frequent regional travel and working independently at various sites
