Role Description The Senior Accountant is a full-time remote role responsible for managing complex accounting activities and supporting accurate financial reporting. Day-to-day tasks include preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and maintaining detailed supporting documentation. The role involves assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, variance analysis, and financial statement review. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper revenue recognition, expense classification, and compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Additional responsibilities may include supporting audits, improving accounting processes, and contributing to the implementation of new systems or reporting tools.
Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in general accounting practices, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Experience with financial reporting, analysis, and interpretation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Comfort working with ERP systems and financial software; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
  • Ability to work remotely with high levels of organization, attention to detail, and time management.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for partnering with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including identifying process improvements and implementing solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a senior or advanced accounting role, ideally in a technology, healthcare, or life sciences environment.
  • Understanding of internal controls, audit support requirements, and compliance in a publicly traded or growth-stage company is beneficial.
