Job Description
The Group is seeking a candidate with experience and knowledge of multiple operating system platforms with strong Windows and LINUX proficiency required. The candidate will be supporting group AND experimental environments, responsibilities include: computer system configurations and upgrades; identification of system performance issues and user needs, recommendation of specific changes and upgrades; assist staff with computer and network problems and tasks.
Additional duties include:
- Explore and recommend commercial hardware and software products to meet project and group requirements.
- Order hardware and software products; renew software licenses to ensure continuity of service.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision are required.
- Must be able to create documentation on systems to satisfy certification, technical staff, and end users, as well as formulate, execute and maintain an asset lifecycle management plan.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking problems is required.
- Work experience in mission critical environments is highly desirable.
Required Experience:
- Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related scientific or technical discipline, or equivalent related experience.
- 4+ Years IT and Windows (Workstation, Server) Administration.
- Experience and knowledge required to manage, monitor, troubleshoot and maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems.
- Windows System Administration; active directory tools, system builds.
- LINUX proficiency
- Network Storage
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WINS and LDAP
- IT Security - vulnerability remediation, network design, logging. Develop and implementation of System Security Plans for unique and system and operating requirements outside established security policy.
- Knowledge of computer hardware (including peripheral equipment), software packages and communication and network technology.
- Working knowledge of Virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
- Bachelor's is preferred
