The Role
As a Mainframe DB2 Support Specialist at Kyndryl, you’ll be responsible for managing and supporting IBM DB2 database environments to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security. In this role, you respond to technical inquiries, monitor database health, and support stable operations for business‑critical systems.
You will troubleshoot and optimize DB2 performance, implement security and availability best practices, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve incidents and support business needs. Your work contributes directly to reliable database operations and high‑quality service delivery across enterprise mainframe environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure timely response to inquiries and maintain high availability of DB2 database environments.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize DB2 database performance to meet operational targets.
- Implement and maintain security best practices for DB2 databases.
- Support backup, recovery, and availability processes to ensure data integrity and continuity.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve incidents and support business requirements.
Who You Are
You’re good at what you do and bring hands‑on experience supporting DB2 database environments. You have strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, understand the importance of database availability and security, and communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. You thrive in structured, enterprise‑scale environments and collaborate well with global teams.
Required Skills And Experience
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience in DB2 database administration or support, preferably in mainframe environments.
- Proficiency with IBM DB2 tools for database administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills to diagnose and resolve database issues.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Intermediate English proficiency, required for technical documentation, incident reporting, and collaboration with global teams.
- Experience with database security, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
- Exposure to regulated or high‑availability enterprise environments.
