Manager Embedded Software Engineering
Indexed description
You Will Do This By
- Overseeing the implementations of unified, reusable embedded software architectures across product lines, ensuring components remain hardware-decoupled, modular, and scalable
- Guiding firmware and control design using object-oriented and low-level programming languages, Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), and embedded OS platforms; support the definition of low-level drivers, middleware, and standard industrial communication protocols
- Ensuring compliance with safety-critical systems standards, functional safety requirements, and secure code execution, while directing secure boot, memory partitioning, cryptographic execution, and Over-the-Air (OTA) update lifecycles
- Collaborating with Electrical, Mechanical, and Systems Engineering teams to support microcontroller/SoC selection, sensor/actuator integration, power management, and hardware bring-up
- Directing the design and maintenance of data flows between edge controllers, telemetry systems, and enterprise cloud environments to enable digital twin and fleet analytics capabilities
- Promoting the adoption of modern embedded DevOps workflows, automated continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, static analysis, unit testing, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) / Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) validation environments
- Maintaining Agile/Scrum development methodologies tailored to embedded hardware/software release cycles, overseeing sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and cross-functional dependency tracking.
- Establishing and track key engineering performance metrics (e.g., test coverage, incoming bug rates, and sprint performance) to drive continuous improvement and accountability
- Performing full range of managerial responsibilities, including interviewing, hiring, coaching, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; managing department budgets; and evaluating performance
- Implementing guidelines, standards, and team practices for leveraging emerging AI productivity tools across software development workflows
