Senior Linux Administrator

Job Title: Unix, Hypervisor - Admin

Role Overview:

This role is responsible for administrating and managing enterprise-grade infrastructure across Unix/Linux systems, storage, and virtualization platforms. The admin ensures high availability, performance, scalability, and security across all layers of the IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Unix/Linux Systems Administration:

• Build and maintain Unix/Linux server environments (RHEL,SOLARIS, etc.).

• Perform OS upgrades, patching, and system hardening.

• Configure shares and manage storage provisioning.

• Automate system tasks using shell scripting (Ansible, Python, etc.).

Hypervisor & Virtualization Management:

• Manage virtualization platforms (RedHat OpenShift, KVM).

• Plan and execute virtual infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and capacity expansions.

• Optimize virtual machine performance, resource allocation, and high availability.

• Implement and manage virtual networking, storage integration, and VM backups.

• Ensure compliance with licensing, security, and operational standards in virtual environments.

• Collaborate with application and DevOps teams to support containerization and hybrid workloads.

Collaboration & Governance:

• Work with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure with business needs.

• Maintain documentation for architecture, configurations, and procedures.

• Ensure compliance with data security and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

• 8+ years of experience in Unix/Linux administration, storage and virtualization.

• Added advantages in storage technologies (EMC, NetApp, Hitachi).

• Strong knowledge of networking protocols and security practices.

• Proficiency in Unix/Linux administration and virtualization platforms.

• Experience with backup and replication tools.

• Certifications: RHCSA, RHCE, EX280, ITIL, certifications.

• Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

• Ability to lead projects and work with junior engineers.
