Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Senior Infrastructure Engineer | £50,000–£60,000 | Fully Remote (UK)
Before you apply: this role requires hands-on bare-metal Linux experience, and applications without a cover letter will not be considered. See below.
We're hiring for a UK-based client building the infrastructure behind a platform that keeps families and communities safer online. It's a hands-on senior role where your decisions on reliability and performance directly will affect real users worldwide.
This role is not a fit if:
- Your Linux experience is entirely cloud-native/managed (e.g. EC2 instances, managed Kubernetes) with no bare-metal or on-prem server administration
- You can't commit to an on-call rotation covering evenings and weekends
- You're not eligible to work in the UK
This role is a great fit if you have:
- Genuine bare-metal Linux administration experience e.g. OS internals, performance tuning, physical hardware troubleshooting
- Solid networking fundamentals (switches, routers, firewalls, proxy servers)
- Terraform, Ansible/Puppet, and Kubernetes/Docker in production
- Kafka and Redis experience
- CI/CD pipeline ownership (GitLab preferred)
- Grafana/monitoring experience and a proactive approach to reliability
- Nice to have: Azure/AWS, relevant certs (Linux, networking, cloud)
What's on offer:
- £50,000–£60,000, fully remote
- On-call support from an experienced, collaborative team
- Mentoring and genuine progression
- Work with real commercial impact, not just technical novelty
How to apply: READ CAREFULLY, this determines whether you're considered:
Submit ONE PDF or Word document containing your CV and a cover letter. Applications without both will not be reviewed.
In your cover letter, use the word "reseated" somewhere naturally (this tells us you read this ad properly, most applicants don't, and skipping this is the fastest way to get filtered out).
Beyond that, tell us about:
- A specific time you diagnosed or fixed a hard problem at the bare-metal/OS level
- How you build environments to be reliable and repeatable, not just working
- A time something broke outside office hours, what you did and what changed afterward
- How you've explained a technical trade-off to a non-technical stakeholder
We're ideally looking for real, specific situations, not a restatement of your CV.
This client is an equal opportunities employer. Applications are welcomed from all qualified candidates regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership, pregnancy/maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation. Only candidates with the existing right to work in the UK will be considered.
