Open Systems Support Engineer - 3DS/Rewards system

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Open Systems Application Support Engineer to join our Cards Technology team. This role is responsible for providing Level 3 (L3) application support, maintenance, enhancement, and delivery services for critical Cards applications, including 3D Secure (3DS) and Rewards platforms.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Java application development, production support, troubleshooting, and incident management within a banking or financial services environment. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure application stability, operational excellence, and successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L3 production support for Cards applications, including 3DS and Rewards platforms.
• Investigate production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent solutions.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate.
• Monitor application performance and proactively identify improvement opportunities.
• Support application deployments, releases, and post-implementation activities.
• Collaborate with business users, QA teams, infrastructure teams, and vendors to resolve technical issues.
• Participate in the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including analysis, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Ensure compliance with change management, release management, and operational procedures.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, support guides, and operational runbooks.
• Provide after-hours support when required for critical production incidents.

Required Skills & Experience

Core Technologies

• 3-5 years of experience in application development and production support.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Java
• Spring Boot
• Hibernate / JPA
• Linux / Unix environments
• Experience supporting mission-critical applications in an Open Systems environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Banking & Cards Domain

• Experience working in the Banking or Financial Services industry.
• Exposure to Cards and Payments systems.
• Understanding of transaction processing and application support in a production environment.

Development & Delivery

• Good understanding of SDLC methodologies and software delivery practices.
• Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
• Knowledge of application release and deployment processes.
