Oracle Database Specialist / Engineer

We are hiring an experienced Oracle Database Specialist / Engineer for one of our clients. This position is aimed at someone with a strong engineering mindset who enjoys designing, implementing, automating, and continuously improving Oracle database environments.

This is not a traditional DBA or 24/7 operations role. We are specifically looking for candidates whose experience goes beyond routine database administration, operational support, and ticket handling.

Your Responsibilities

• Install and configure Oracle Database Standard Edition environments for customer projects, including cluster-based services
• Design, implement, modify, and continuously improve Oracle database solutions
• Develop and enhance Ansible automation used for database installation and configuration
• Work with Red Hat-compatible Linux environments and use Bash scripting for administrative and automation tasks
• Analyze and resolve complex Oracle Database issues with an understanding of end-to-end system dependencies
• Perform database fine-tuning and performance optimization
• Contribute to the architecture and technical evolution of existing database environments
• Take ownership of technical topics and proactively propose improvements
• Collaborate with internal technical teams and, when required, interact directly with end customers

Your Profile

• Several years of hands-on experience with Oracle Database
• Strong Oracle expertise beyond traditional database administration
• Proven experience with installation, configuration, implementation, and enhancement of Oracle database environments
• Strong knowledge of Red Hat-compatible Linux operating systems
• Hands-on experience with Ansible, ideally for Oracle Database installation and configuration
• Good Bash scripting skills
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
• Independent, structured, and goal-oriented working style
• Confidence to take ownership and drive technical improvements
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Bachelor’s degree, MBA, or equivalent qualification is preferred

Nice to Have

• Experience with disaster recovery / fast recovery concepts
• Experience with Oracle Database cluster environments
• Performance tuning and optimization experience
• Customer-facing or consulting experience
• Fluent or professional German

Important

We are specifically looking for an Oracle Database Engineer / Specialist rather than a traditional DBA. Candidates whose experience is primarily focused on routine operations, monitoring, ticket processing, or day-to-day database administration are unlikely to be a fit.

The ideal candidate combines strong Oracle expertise with implementation, engineering, automation, architecture, and continuous-improvement capabilities.
