Project
A specialist medical device manufacturer is investing in the redevelopment of a portable diagnostic and therapy platform used in clinical environments. The project focuses on modernising an existing embedded architecture and introducing improved connectivity, cybersecurity, and long-term maintainability across a new generation of products.
You'll join a cross-functional team of electronics, software, systems, and verification engineers, with a particular focus on real-time embedded firmware and secure device communications within a regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software in C/C++ on ARM Cortex-M platforms
- Design low-level firmware, device drivers, and communication interfaces
- Implement and optimise RTOS-based functionality (FreeRTOS/Zephyr)
- Integrate sensors, peripherals, and external modules
- Support secure bootloaders and firmware update mechanisms
- Troubleshoot hardware-software interactions and system-level issues
- Contribute to verification activities and technical documentation
Required Experience
- Strong Embedded C/C++ development background
- Experience with ARM microcontrollers
- RTOS experience (FreeRTOS, Zephyr or similar)
- Good knowledge of SPI, I2C, UART, CAN or Ethernet
- Experience debugging hardware-near software
- Familiarity with Git and modern development workflows
Desirable
- Medical device experience
- IEC 62304 knowledge
- Secure firmware or cybersecurity exposure
- BLE or wireless connectivity projects
- STM32 development experience
