The Mill Application Support Specialist is responsible for providing support, maintenance, and development of IT systems and applications that support the manufacturing operations of the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience with manufacturing IT systems and applications, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
The specialist works closely with business groups, IT teams, and vendors to facilitate solution delivery and support in a 24x5x365 fast paced manufacturing environment. The specialist will manage the local systems and applications used at Billerud’s North American facilities. As systems understanding grows, the specialist will be assigned ownership of specific companywide applications.
Qualifications
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide support and maintenance of IT systems and applications used in manufacturing operations at assigned location and other Billerud locations
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex issues with IT systems and applications
- Develop and implement solutions to improve the functionality, performance, and reliability of IT systems and applications
- Create and maintain documentation for IT systems and applications
- Collaborate with IT and manufacturing teams to ensure that IT systems and applications are properly integrated and aligned with the organization's overall IT strategy
- Stay current with the latest technologies and trends in manufacturing IT systems and applications
- Provide training and mentoring to IT and manufacturing teams on the use of IT systems and applications
- Function as a subject matter expert for IT systems and applications used in manufacturing operations
- Develop and deploy solutions for our customers according to development standards set for Billerud
- Participate in after-hours IT on-call support rotation for local facility
- Minimum Required Experience and Education: AS/BS/BA in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of Information Technology Application Support or related IT experience required
- Technical understanding of software development tools, testing methodologies, application, and database design
- Strong expertise in IT systems and applications used in manufacturing operations
- Solid teamwork, organization, and communication (both oral and written) skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and within a team
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Well organized with ability to manage multiple time sensitive, complex projects and issues simultaneously
- Microsoft M365 Proficiency
- Visual Studio Proficiency (C# or other languages)
- Experience with PI, Proficy, PARCView, Optivision and other manufacturing related applications
- Experience working on remote or virtual teams
- Experience with manufacturing operations and processes
- Microsoft SQL Server object creation proficiency
- Windows Server and Desktop experience
