Were working with a leading organisation in the National Security space that is growing its engineering capability across the UK.
Theyre looking for Site Reliability Engineers to help build, maintain and improve critical services supporting mission-focused applications. This is a hands-on role for engineers who enjoy solving complex problems, automating repetitive work and making systems more reliable, scalable and resilient.
What youll be doing- Supporting and maintaining critical services, improving their availability, performance and stability
- Automating repetitive operational tasks and reducing manual intervention wherever possible
- Working closely with software and product teams to improve how systems are designed, built and operated
- Instrumenting applications and using monitoring and observability to identify issues and demonstrate improvements
- Troubleshooting problems across the application, infrastructure and platform stack
- Working with cloud infrastructure and containerised/microservices environments
- Contributing to the wider DevOps and SRE community
- Helping introduce new technologies and approaches that improve reliability and operational efficiency
Youll ideally have experience across a number of the following:
- Software development with Java and web technologies such as JavaScript/HTML
- Linux and Windows, including Bash and/or PowerShell
- Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or OpenStack
- Monitoring and observability tools, particularly ELK/Elastic
- Databases such as MongoDB
- Configuration/deployment tooling such as Chef or Puppet
- Docker and microservices architectures
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting application and service outages
- Agile/Scrum environments and tools such as Jira
- Automation and testing frameworks such as Selenium
- ITIL principles and operational service management
- Open-source technologies and/or extending existing open-source solutions
You don't need to tick every box. We're particularly interested in engineers who have a strong troubleshooting mindset, enjoy automation and understand the relationship between software, infrastructure and reliable services.
