Linux System Administrator

I have been staffing for this role for over 15 years now, and these positions end up being very long-term contracts. Some people have contracted for us over 20 years after starting as a 1-year contractor, and many others have contracted over ten years.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES WORKING ON SITE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.

• It is going to be onsite, and they are flexible on hours – anytime from 6am – 6pm.

Senior Linux Administrator

Position Overview We are seeking a Senior Linux Administrator for a 12+ month contract-to-hire opportunity located onsite in the Dallas, TX area. In this role, you will support store development and infrastructure operations for global Point of Sale (POS) environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain Linux OS images running across global Point of Sale (POS) locations.
• Manage ongoing OS patching efforts for field devices worldwide.
• Collaborate with local technicians globally to resolve technical escalations.
• Work directly with hardware vendors to ensure proper JPOS device driver functionality in POS images for current and upcoming hardware.
• Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation to respond to high-priority issues.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Linux OS Administration (SuSE Linux preferred).
• 5+ years of experience with scripting languages (Bash, KSH, Perl, or Python).
• Eligibility for sensitive access levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience using Samba or Winbind for joining Linux systems to Windows Active Directory.
• 1+ year of experience with enterprise automation platforms such as Ansible or Puppet.
• 1+ year of experience with Jira test case management.
