Application Support Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Application Support Specialist ( Payment Systems) to join the client's Payments Technology team. In this role, you will ensure the smooth operation, reliability, and continuous improvement of real-time payment applications. You will manage deployments, troubleshoot production issues, enhance automation, and support mission-critical payment processing systems while collaborating closely with cross-functional technical teams.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Provide functional and technical support for the payment platform.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents and service disruptions.
• Ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders throughout incident management activities.
• Manage containerized application operations, including start, stop, restart, and configuration through automation tools.
• Manage platform upgrades, deployments, and version tracking. Customer Credit Transfers
• Financial Institution Transfers
• Account Statements and Reconciliation Messages
• ISO 20022 messages (payment, cash management, and customer payment messages)
• Work closely with operational and processing teams on incident resolution and system enhancements.
• Investigate payment failures, rejections, duplicates, delays, and reconciliation issues.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting in Unix/Linux environments.
• Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting capabilities to proactively detect application, infrastructure, and payment-processing issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in banking application support.
• Experience within an international banking or financial services environment is highly preferred.
• Strong expertise in payment platforms or similar payment applications.
• Hands-on experience managing container-based deployments and operations.
• Solid understanding of payment messaging standards.
• Good knowledge of ISO 20022.
• Strong Unix/Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Container platform management.
• Shell scripting (Bash, Korn Shell, or equivalent).
• Messaging middleware technologies.
• APIs and integration technologies.
• Strong NoSQL & SQL Skills.
