Indexed description

The Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics develops robots that enable people to interact with the environment more efficiently, effectively and safely. The robots are designed to work in environments that are inaccessible or dangerous for humans, but also to support and relieve people at work and in everyday life.

What To Expect

The Embedded and Distributed Systems Group within the Autonomy and Remote Programming Department of the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics develops software components that enable the Institute’s researchers to work with robotic systems at a level abstracted from the hardware. This includes, for example, the provision of real-time operating systems, device drivers and inter-process communication via middleware.

Your tasks

  • Developing new and maintaining existing embedded real-time Linux applications in robotic systems
  • Integrating new hardware, such as sensors and actuators
  • Collaborating with other teams (e.g. embedded development, software architecture, test laboratories)
  • Participation in research projects and publication at scientific conferences

Your profil

  • A completed university degree (Master’s / Bachelor’s) in engineering (e.g. specialising in robotics or electrical engineering), computer science or other relevant fields
  • Several years’ professional experience in software development for embedded real-time systems
  • Experience in interdisciplinary software projects
  • In-depth knowledge of software development and programming in C and C++ under Linux
  • Experience working with the Linux kernel, including configuration, build processes, kernel module development and device drivers
  • Programming skills in Python
  • Very good written and spoken English

Remuneration is based on qualifications and assigned duties, up to pay grade 13 under the TVöD.

We look forward to getting to know you!
