The Role
This key role focuses on a Well Log Data Management project utilizing AspenTech’s proprietary software for Formation Evaluation and Characterization. This project emphases mainly on maintaining high-quality well logs data in a repository, preparing composite logs and the utilization of spliced logs in advanced geological workflows e.g., to estimate the Total Organic Carbon (TOC) from wireline logs using different methodologies etc. As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with the customers to understand their specific challenges and provide innovative solutions that drive long-term value and success. Reporting to the Director of Customer Enablement (On-Sites - SSE), the Sr Principal Customer Enablement Specialist – Geologist will be responsible for delivering full-time, on-site support to one of AspenTech’s most strategic customers in the Middle East.
Your Impact
- Provide customer support service on a Well Log Data Management project utilizing AspenTech’s proprietary software for Formation Evaluation and Characterization that drives user engagement and sustains product usage.
- Collect and consolidate well data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency of well log data (field, processed, and interpreted) through detailed review and validation with data providers.
- Oversee and validate petrophysical work, ensuring technical accuracy, timely delivery, and alignment with project objectives.
- Apply advanced technologies and efficient workflows to enhance petrophysical data management and interpretation processes.
- Generate final composite logs for all wells and prepare final LAS files containing all well log attributes.
- Assist with troubleshooting of technical and/or petrophysical data related problems described by Customer using AspenTech’s proprietary software.
- Prepare and present technical reports, presentations, recommendations and documentation to senior management and Customers.
- Adhere to contractual obligations and communicate potential gaps to management.
- Collaborate with other AspenTech functions to maintain and develop business opportunities.
- Develop strong relationships with Customer, building an understanding of their business needs and challenges.
- Work in close collaboration with the Project Manager and Customer on the Well Log Data Management project to ensure effective coordination and successful delivery of project activities.
- Support the Project Manager and Customer in maintaining well data for newly drilled wells and integrating new data for existing wells into the repository.
- Collect and consolidate well data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain, update, and organize well data repositories for easy accessibility and long-term integrity.
- Prepare and manage composite logs, ensuring alignment with project and operational requirements.
- Support geological and petrophysical workflows by providing validated well log and related subsurface data.
- Monitor data quality, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective measures in collaboration with Customer.
- Collaborate with project managers, domain experts, and software specialists to optimize data management workflows.
- Generate reports, summaries, and data visualizations to support exploration, production, and reservoir characterization studies.
- Provide user support and training on well data management processes, best practices, and software tools.
- Work with the Customer to troubleshoot and resolve any other issues related to the Well Log Data Management project.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geology, Petrophysics, Geosciences, Earth Sciences or related discipline.
- A minimum of 15 years of industry experience as a Geologist, Petrophysicist, Well log Analyst or Geoscientist in the oil and gas industry.
- Must have experience in well log data management (Well log conditioning, Splicing, QA/QC etc.).
- Ability to work with large datasets, perform quality control, and ensure data integrity.
- Have some experience in petrophysical evaluation, well logging techniques, reservoir characterization, and resource assessment. Particularly, have good understanding of Petrophysical topics like NMR, ECS, XRD, PNL, SONIC, LWD etc.
- Proven hands-on experience with AspenTech Formation Evaluation software (Aspen Geolog) and/or other advanced petrophysical applications such as PowerLog, Techlog, DecisionSpace Petrophysics, or Interactive Petrophysics.
- Any previous experience of information and / or document management system is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex technical issues and capability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex technical concepts to a variety of audience.
- Ability to identify opportunities that create value for customers with a strong customer first mindset.
- Ability to proactively take the lead in resolving complex technical issues and/or difficult organisational problems with an innovative approach.
