FEA Tire Modeling Engineer
Indexed description
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who is passionate about tire technology, computational modeling, and automotive performance. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience with finite element analysis (FEA), excellent communication abilities, and a desire to contribute to innovative tire development programs.
We currently operate on a hybrid work schedule (4 days in office and 1 day remote). Applicants must be able to commute to and work from our Suwanee, GA Technology Center.
Responsibilities
- Develop, build, and maintain advanced finite element tire models using ABAQUS to support tire design, performance prediction, and product development activities
- Create and enhance proprietary tire modeling methodologies, simulation workflows, and automation tools to improve analysis efficiency, accuracy, and engineering decision-making
- Perform structural, static, dynamic, thermal, rolling, durability, and contact simulations to evaluate tire behavior under a variety of conditions
- Develop, validate, and optimize FEA models of tire components and assemblies
- Partner with tire design, materials, testing, manufacturing, and OE development teams to identify performance opportunities and provide simulation-driven recommendations
- Analyze simulation results, identify performance trends, and present technical findings and recommendations to engineering teams and management
- Support Original Equipment (OE) tire development programs by providing virtual validation, design optimization, and technical analysis throughout the product development cycle
- Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports, presentations, and validation studies to support design reviews and product development decisions
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
- Master’s degree in mechanical, structural or materials engineering AND at least three (3) years of experience in FEA tire modeling and simulation required
PhD in mechanical, structural or materials engineering AND at least one (1) year of experience in FEA tire, rubber or composite materials modeling and simulation required
- Advanced knowledge of and experience using Abaqus required
Salary: $75,000 - $110,000, commensurate with experience
