Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Administration
- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers and workstations (Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, and other Enterprise Linux distributions).
- Manage virtualization platforms such as, oVirt, Proxmox,
- Perform system installation, upgrades, patching, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
- Monitor system health and proactively resolve infrastructure issues.
- Act as the final technical escalation point for complex infrastructure and production issues.
- Handle escalated incidents from L1 and L2 support engineers.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to junior engineers.
- Ensure SLA compliance and timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.
- Support Digital Content Creation (DCC) applications used in VFX production (such as Autodesk Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Adobe Creative Cloud, 3DEqualizer, etc.).
- Troubleshoot workstation performance issues affecting artists and production teams.
- Coordinate with Pipeline, Production, and Development teams to resolve technical issues.
- Develop automation scripts using Shell (Bash) and/or Python.
- Automate routine system administration and operational tasks.
- Improve operational efficiency through scripting and process automation.
- Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity issues.
- Configure and manage VLANs, Layer 2 switching, and basic routing.
- Configure and troubleshoot managed switches.
- Work with firewall, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and network services.
- Support network changes during infrastructure implementations.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, knowledge base articles, and system diagrams.
- Maintain accurate documentation for infrastructure changes and configurations.
- Follow IT security policies, change management, and operational procedures.
- Strong hands-on experience with Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, and Enterprise Linux administration.
- Experience managing Linux servers and desktop environments.
- Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, oVirt, Nutanix AHV, Proxmox, Hyper-V, or similar).
- Experience handling complex infrastructure incidents and escalated support tickets.
- Experience supporting L1 and L2 engineers.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise ticketing systems (Jira, ServiceNow, ManageEngine, Freshservice, GLPI, etc.).
- Hands-on experience supporting DCC applications in production environments.
- Strong Shell (Bash) scripting skills.
- Good Python scripting knowledge for automation.
- Good understanding of networking concepts including:
- TCP/IP
- DNS
- DHCP
- VLAN configuration
- Layer 2 Switching
- Basic Routing
- VPN
- Experience with system monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead technical troubleshooting activities.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in the VFX, Animation, or Media & Entertainment industry.
- Experience with Active Directory, LDAP, or identity management solutions.
- Knowledge of Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 administration.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix, or Nagios.
- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Familiarity with container technologies (Docker/Podman) is an advantage.
- Exposure to configuration management and Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible, Terraform) is a plus.
