Job Summary
RSI is currently recruiting a Project Manager Information Technology for our client in Chattanooga. This role will integrate directly with TVA technology teams, the Enterprise Project Management Office, and business unit stakeholders to lead Joint Project Teams (JPTs), driving technology solutions from concept and business case development through deployment, hypercare, and operational handover. Candidate will lead project activities from charter development, business and technical requirements intake, and business case development through solution design, development or configuration, testing, deployment, post-go-live stabilization, and transition to operations.
The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, direction, management, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects according to specifications, within budget cost from initiation through completion. The Project Manager leads Joint Project Teams (JPTs), applies professional principles, practices and techniques to manage and control project schedule, cost and performance risk to ensure project is completed within a certain set of restraints (e.g., time, budget, people, quality, materials) and a high level of quality. This role is generally assigned medium-sized projects, or functions within a larger project. Work is primarily achieved by an individual, or through project teams. The Project Manager is the single point of contact regarding a specific project and assumes the leadership role in safely managing the project.
Work and results primarily achieved through the work of others and typically depend on the incumbent’s ability to influence and negotiate with parts of the organization where formal authority is not held. Decisions are guided by resource availability and project objectives. This is a remote/hybrid role.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects from initial planning stages to completion, including post-project analysis in compliance with all TVA processes and procedures.
- Actively manages multi-discipline teams including internal and external resources to define and achieve project performance goals, schedule and budget performance.
- Develop full-scale project plans including project scope, accurate and reliable cost estimates, goals and deliverables, and effectively communicates project expectations to management, end users and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner. Proactively communicates project status, issues and risks to management.
- Defines, estimates and secures resources needed to achieve project goals. Integrates sound cost estimating practices into project plans.
- Prepare budget proposals and recommends subsequent budget changes to meet changing requirements, where necessary.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using formal processes and appropriate tools, such as project management software.
- Tracks project progress, milestones and deliverables to ensure deadlines are met appropriately.
- Assesses project issues and identifies solutions to meet project goals.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identifies potential crises and develop contingency plans.
- Solves technical and non-technical problems throughout the life of the project.
- Minimizes exposure and risk on project.
- Coordinates with other TVA organizations to ensure efficient use of TVA resources.
- Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions.
- Ensures project-related documents are complete, current and stored appropriately.
- May oversee and coordinate work performed by outside contractors.
- Interfaces with external customers, news media, attorneys, and elected officials over issues that are potentially sensitive in nature requiring communication in a tactful and sensitive manner.
- May negotiate and implement pre-contract agreements prior to the issue and approval of formal contact documents. Implements post contract settlements with contractors at the end of the project.
- Ensures projects are consistent with TVA project management strategy/policies and in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
- Travels to corporate offices and project sites as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business management, or technical field, or equivalent education, training and/or related work experience.
- Requires 5 years utility experience or equivalent functional area work experience.
- Experience managing IT project resources, with demonstrated expertise managing complex enterprise technology initiatives such as software implementations, cloud and infrastructure rollouts, application upgrades, system integrations, and data migrations within a regulated, high-security utility or public-sector environment. Candidates must be skilled in standard IT delivery methodologies,
- Project Management experience to include managing the integration, deployment and training of new enterprise software to support management of IT capital and operational investments, ensuring initiatives meet approved scope, schedule, budget, quality, and architectural requirements.
- Project Management Institute (PMI) certification as Project Management Professional (PMP). Demonstrated desire to excel in professional field of study as demonstrated by Certification/Licensure in professional field of study preferred but not required (e.g. PE, CPA, CFP, etc)
- Experience utilizing enterprise software to include Maximo, S4 Hana, C55, or Powerplan.
- IT delivery methodologies to include: Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid approaches, technical change governance, and TVA project controls and enterprise tools.
- Understanding of the utility industry and the ability to resolve complex problems.
