Duties

  • Serves as Budget Analyst in support of Project Managers.
  • Coordinates the budgeting of assigned programs.
  • Exercises control and surveillance over funding matters to assure successful attainment of stated program objectives.
  • Maintains records of funding, obligations, and expenditures for assigned programs.
  • Using automated systems, assists Project and Program Managers in preparing 2101 funding schedules, fully funded estimates, PB-3 and PB-2a reports, and Section 902 analyses for assigned projects.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Formulating and developing budget estimates and justifications for an organization or significant program area; 2) Analyzing and monitoring the execution of an operating budget, including tracking obligations, expenditures, and identifying funding variances; 3) Interpreting and applying budgetary policies, regulations, and procedures to provide advice and guidance to management on financial matters; 4) Using automated financial systems and software to compile, analyze, and report on budgetary data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
