Role Overview
- Job Title: Red Hat Linux Systems Administrator / Workstation Engineer
- Core Mission: Automate the provisioning, hardening, and lifecycle management of RHEL workstations.
- Primary Tools: Red Hat Satellite, Ansible, Kickstart, Bash/Python, and Git
Key Responsibilities
- Build & Provision: Design automated build pipelines and Kickstart installation profiles for standardized RHEL workstation deployments.
- Configuration Management: Use Ansible to enforce system configuration, user access policies, and software packages.
- Patch & Lifecycle Management: Administer Red Hat Satellite for software updates, patch deployment, and repository management.
- Security & Hardening: Apply DISA STIG or CIS benchmarks, manage SELinux policies, and ensure endpoint compliance.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose kernel panics, hardware driver mismatches, network authentication (LDAP/Samba/SSSD), and storage issues.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3+ years managing RHEL environments (Version 7.0 or higher)
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in automated provisioning, TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, and scripting (Bash, Python).
- Certifications: Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Specialist in Deployment and Systems Management.
