Europe is rebuilding its digital foundations. A growing number of banks, insurers, hospitals, public authorities and industrial companies are moving their most critical systems onto sovereign cloud infrastructure - cloud platforms operated in Europe, under European law, outside the reach of non-European jurisdictions.
Accenture is building a 24×7 Cloud Operations team in Romania to run and safeguard one of these platforms for a leading European sovereign cloud provider. The platform is built on OpenStack with substantial in-house engineering on top, and it carries mission-critical enterprise workloads.
You will be part of an operations team that is genuinely responsible for keeping this platform available - this is a hands-on engineering role in operations.
What You Will Do
Own incidents. Detect, investigate, mitigate and resolve issues affecting compute, storage, network, Kubernetes and platform services.
Work the alerts, not just the queue. A large share of the work arrives as monitoring events rather than user tickets. You will interpret metrics and logs, separate noise from a real problem, and act before customers notice.
Troubleshoot at depth. Linux system analysis, OpenStack CLI diagnostics, Kubernetes workload inspection, storage and network fault isolation.
Run standard operations. Provisioning of virtual machines, volumes, networks and access rights via portal, CLI and existing automation.
Join and lead bridge calls with the client’s engineering teams — in English, under time pressure.
Escalate intelligently. Where third-level engineering is required, hand over a clean, evidence-based analysis rather than a forwarded ticket.
Contribute to root cause analysis delivered within 48 hours of major incidents, and turn findings into preventive action.
Improve the runbooks. The platform is young and documentation is still growing. Every incident you resolve should leave behind a better procedure than you found.
Hand over cleanly to the next shift. Continuity is a team discipline, and it is part of the job.RequiredWhat you bring2+ years in infrastructure, cloud, systems or platform operations, in production environments with real availability requirements.
Good Linux administration and troubleshooting — Red Hat Enterprise Linux or comparable. You are at home on the command line: processes, storage, networking, systemd, logs, performance.
Good understanding of IaaS concepts: virtual machines, block/object/file storage, virtual networks, load balancers, DNS, backup.
Hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform. Private-cloud or OpenStack-based platforms are the closest match; public cloud experience with genuine infrastructure depth is equally welcome.
Working knowledge of Kubernetes and containers — inspecting pods, reading logs and events, restarting workloads, recognising what “broken” looks like.
Monitoring and observability practice: reading and interrogating dashboards and log platforms (Grafana, Kibana, Prometheus/VictoriaMetrics or equivalents).
Version control and basic automation: Git, plus Bash or Python scripting.
Structured incident handling — ITIL-aligned incident, problem and change practice, and the discipline to document while working.
Professional English, spoken and written. You will use it every day, including on live incident calls.
Willingness and ability to work in a 24×7 shift rotation, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
