2nd shift - 3:34pm to Midnight, Monday - FridayJob Summary: The Die Setter is responsible for the setup, changeover, and optimization of injection molding machines and tooling to ensure efficient production of high-quality molded parts. This role requires hands-on experience with mold installation, process startup, and troubleshooting within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform mold (die) changes on injection molding machines according to production schedules.
- Set up and adjust machines, including auxiliary equipment (robots, conveyors, dryers, etc.).
- Ensure proper mold alignment, clamping, and connection of water, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Start up machines and establish processing parameters to meet quality and cycle time standards.
- Troubleshoot molding defects (e.g., short shots, flash, sink marks, warping) and adjust processes accordingly.
- Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain efficiency and quality.
- Conduct first-piece inspections and verify part quality against specifications.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on molds and equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and proper material handling.
- Document setup parameters and maintain accurate production records.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve issue.
- Communicate any delays equipment issues, or material shortages.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- High school diploma or GED (technical training preferred)
- 2+ years of experience in injection molding setup or die setting
- Strong understanding of injection molding processes and materials (thermoplastics)
- Experience with mold installation, start-up, and process adjustments
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools
- Ability to troubleshoot molding and process issues independently
- Ensure team members follow established procedures and safety protocols.
- Communicate any delays equipment issues, or material shortages.
- Must be able to work in noisy environments.
- Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs, unassisted.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and climb to access all parts of the machine.
