Senior Filesystem Engineer

will design, enhance, debug, and maintain core components of the StorNext software suite, with
emphasis on enterprise filesystem internals, kernel-level development, and large-scale storage
management. The ideal candidate brings strong systems programming experience, sound technical
judgment, and the ability to drive complex engineering work from investigation through delivery while
collaborating closely with engineering, QA, support, and product stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, enhance, and maintain StorNext Filesystem (SNFS) components, including the cvfs
tiering subsystems, configuration tools, management tools, and debugging/collection utilities.
- Lead investigation, debugging, root-cause analysis, and resolution of complex software defects
- Drive code reviews, design discussions, validation planning, and technical decisions that
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced engineers while helping
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional filesystems software development experience using C and/or C++.
- Strong scripting experience with Python, Perl, bash, or similar tools for automation, diagnostics,
- Proficiency with git or comparable version control systems in a collaborative software
- Strong Linux development experience; Windows development or cross-platform experience is a
- Demonstrated ability to independently own complex technical problems, make sound
- Experience debugging complex systems-level issues using appropriate tracing, logging,
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with kernel-level programming, filesystem internals, storage protocols, or
- Strong systems administration, networking, performance analysis, or storage troubleshooting
- Experience developing or supporting enterprise filesystems, databases, storage platforms, or other high-reliability infrastructure software.
- Experience with JIRA or similar tools for issue tracking, release coordination, defect triage, and engineering workflow management.
The ideal candidate is an experienced systems software engineer with deep curiosity about filesystem
and storage internals, strong debugging instincts, and a track record of delivering reliable software in
complex, performance-sensitive environments. This person is comfortable taking technical ownership,
mentoring others, and balancing hands-on implementation with broader architectural thinking.

Anticipated Annual Salary Range: $145,000 - $165,000
The above pay range represents Quantum's good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Pay within or outside of the range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, knowledge/education, skills/abilities, internal equity, and budgetary considerations.
