About the Company

An exciting opportunity to join a growing cybersecurity and secure technology business building a completely new software platform from the ground up. The engineering team is tackling technically challenging problems around data protection, encryption and secure systems, with the successful candidate joining during an important stage of product development. Rather than maintaining legacy applications, you'll have the opportunity to shape a greenfield platform, influence technical decisions and take genuine ownership of key areas of the technology.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for an experienced systems engineer with a strong C++ background and exposure to Rust, ideally gained within security-focused, low-level or performance-sensitive software environments.

Key experience includes:

  • Strong commercial programming experience with C/C++
  • Practical development experience with Rust
  • Solid understanding of systems programming and native software development
  • Knowledge of memory management and secure software engineering
  • Experience working with encryption, cryptography or key-management concepts
  • Exposure to SQLCipher or other encrypted storage/database technologies
  • Understanding of communication boundaries between C/C++ and Rust, including FFI and IPC
  • Ability to interpret technical designs and turn them into reliable production software
  • Experience contributing to technical decisions and engineering best practices
  • Comfortable mentoring or supporting other software engineers

Responsibilities

  • Develop key components of a new security-focused systems platform using C++, C and Rust
  • Engineer low-level functionality responsible for encryption, secure data handling and key lifecycle management
  • Build reliable mechanisms for storing and accessing encrypted information
  • Design communication and integration points across different areas of the technology stack
  • Solve challenging problems involving memory, validation, application security and system reliability
  • Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform continues to evolve
  • Promote high standards around testing, code reviews, documentation and maintainability
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues across multiple layers of the system
  • Share technical knowledge and provide guidance to engineers as the development team expands

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience with SQLCipher, encrypted databases or secure storage
  • Deeper knowledge of applied cryptography and encryption technologies
  • Familiarity with security frameworks or standards such as NIST and FIPS
  • Previous experience within cybersecurity, privacy, encryption or secure communications
  • Exposure to highly regulated or audit-focused software environments
  • Experience helping take a new systems-level product from initial development into production.
