Cloud Engineer

Job Title: Cloud Engineer / SRE

Location: Zona Franca UltraPark II, Building 10, 1 km east of Jardines del Recuerdo Cemetery, San José, SJ 00000, Costa Rica

Work Mode: Hybrid, any 2 days per week onsite

Employment Type: Full-Time Employee, payroll-based contract with benefits and tax deductions

Contract Duration: 12 months, with strong possibility of extension

About the Role

We are looking for a Cloud Engineer / SRE with extended hands-on experience in AWS and a good understanding of cloud computing infrastructure components and technologies.

The role involves management and monitoring of the AWS platform, working with key AWS services, troubleshooting cloud-related issues, supporting CI/CD workflows, working with containerization technologies, and deploying and troubleshooting infrastructure using Terraform.

Requirements:

Cloud Platform

• Extended hands-on experience with AWS is mandatory.
• Experience with GCP is good to have.
• Good understanding of cloud computing infrastructure components and technologies.
• Good understanding of key AWS services such as KMS, S3, IAM, EC2, Service Catalog, and CodeCommit.
• Good understanding of SCPs, Control Tower, StackSets, and Lambda Functions.
• Ability to analyze CloudWatch logs and troubleshoot issues.

Programming

• Intermediate knowledge of Python or Golang is required.
• For Python:
• Ability to create medium-level solutions using procedures and classes.
• Good understanding and working experience with Python Dicts, JSON, and YAML.
• Ability to review code written by other programmers.
• For Golang:
• Ability to create medium-level solutions using functions, structs, and interfaces.
• Good understanding and working experience with libraries.

CI/CD

• GitHub Actions experience, with overall CI/CD knowledge being important and mandatory.
• Ability to read and understand existing GitHub workflow code.
• Understanding of expressions, context, environment variables, jobs, runners, and secrets usage.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues with existing workflows using workflow run logs, debug logging, and similar available information.

Containerization

• Basic to intermediate experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.

Infrastructure as Code

• Terraform experience is mandatory.
• Good understanding of Terraform, including basic concepts and end-to-end working experience.
• Ability to read code in HCL.
• Ability to deploy resources using Terraform.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues with existing Terraform code.

Good to Have

• Networking experience, including load balancing, network security, and standard network protocols.
• Experience with observability tools such as Dynatrace.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
