Business Systems Analyst, BI & Reporting
Location: Miamisburg, OH
Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Chief Information Officer
We are seeking a technically hands-on Business Systems Analyst to support data, business intelligence, reporting, and process-improvement initiatives across the organization. This role will help improve decision-making, data quality, reporting consistency, and operational performance while aligning solutions with established IT standards, data governance, and enterprise technology direction.
This hybrid role combines the technical capabilities of a Data and BI Analyst with the stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, and process analysis skills of a Business Analyst. The ideal candidate can work directly with data, understand how it flows between enterprise systems, develop reports and dashboards, investigate data-quality issues, and clearly communicate findings to nontechnical business stakeholders.
What You’ll Do:
- Partner with stakeholders across operations, finance, human resources, project management, executive leadership, and IT to understand reporting needs, workflows, challenges, and priorities.
- Translate business needs into clear data, reporting, workflow, and system requirements.
- Gather, validate, transform, and analyze data from multiple enterprise systems.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, scorecards, KPI reports, and recurring or ad hoc reporting.
- Write SQL queries and use appropriate analytical tools to retrieve, transform, analyze, and validate data.
- Work with data warehouses, data lakes, data models, and pipelines that support reporting and analytics.
- Investigate data discrepancies and conduct trend, variance, and root cause analyses to identify likely drivers, recommend practical solutions, and support informed business decisions.
- Develop current-state and future-state process maps, gap analyses, business requirements, user stories, and supporting documentation.
- Identify opportunities to replace manual processes with improved digital workflows, automation, or reporting solutions.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to nontechnical stakeholders in a clear, actionable manner.
- Support data cleansing, standardization, governance, and data-quality initiatives.
- Document and maintain data definitions, business rules, data lineage, and reporting standards in collaboration with IT leadership, data owners, and functional process owners.
- Assist with system implementations, upgrades, integrations, testing, and data validation.
- Coordinate with external technology partners on changes to the organization’s data and reporting environment.
- Train end users on dashboards, reports, analytics tools, and updated business processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, Statistics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in business intelligence, data analysis, business systems analysis, reporting, or a related role.
- Hands-on experience using Power BI to develop and manage data models, reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
- Strong SQL skills with the ability to independently retrieve, combine, transform, analyze, and validate data.
- Hands-on experience working with Snowflake, data warehouses, and data lake environments.
- Hands-on experience developing, supporting, or troubleshooting data pipelines, with a strong understanding of how data flows between enterprise systems.
- Strong Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and validation.
- Experience investigating data discrepancies, identifying root causes, and resolving data-quality or reporting issues.
- Experience gathering requirements and translating business needs into technical, reporting, data, or workflow solutions.
- Experience mapping, documenting, and improving business processes and workflows.
- Experience working with or reporting from ERP, HRIS, financial, project management, document management, or other enterprise business systems.
- Working knowledge of relational data concepts, data modeling, reporting logic, data lineage, and data governance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and analytical findings to nontechnical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver results with limited day-to-day oversight.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, Python, or similar technologies.
- Experience in construction, engineering, architecture, field services, manufacturing, or another project-based industry.
- Exposure to construction ERP, project management, document management, workflow, or field operations platforms.
- Experience supporting enterprise application implementations, integrations, digital workflows, or data-governance initiatives.
- Certification in business analysis, business intelligence, data analytics, or a related discipline.
- Delivering accurate, useful reports and dashboards on time.
- Improving data quality and reporting consistency while reducing manual reporting processes.
- Increasing the adoption and effective use of approved dashboards and analytics solutions.
- Building strong partnerships between business and IT teams to support informed operational decisions.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
Work is primarily performed in an office environment with occasional visits to active construction sites. The employee must be able to safely navigate uneven terrain, stairs, and other jobsite conditions. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, and effective communication. Occasional travel may be required.
Technology Environment:
