Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
Stripe is looking for a senior product strategist-operator to support the Risk team. Risk is central to Stripe’s ability to grow safely: the team protects Stripe and our users while enabling durable, responsible growth. In this role, you will have a front-row seat to high-stakes business and product decisions and a direct hand in helping the team identify emerging risks, prioritize the right interventions, and deliver measurable outcomes. If you are a technical strategist who moves quickly, brings clarity to ambiguity, and stays with difficult problems through resolution, we’d love to hear from you.
You will partner closely with Risk leaders and cross-functional teams across Product, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, Operations, and Strategy. You will create strategic clarity around Risk’s performance, connect business and product signals, pressure-test plans, and mobilize teams when results are off track. The role combines rigorous analysis with hands-on execution: you will not only identify where Stripe should act, but also help drive the work required to change the trajectory.
We are looking for someone who can connect risk signals, data, financial performance, user impact, and product and business strategy. You can find the signal in the noise, form a clear point of view, and either address the problem directly or convene the right people to solve it quickly.
What you’ll do
In this role, you will work across Risk and Stripe’s technical and user-facing teams to improve decision-making, strengthen execution, and help Stripe manage risk while serving users well.
Responsibilities
- Own the signal: Define and maintain the metrics that matter for Risk’s in-year performance, spanning risk outcomes, business impact, operational health, and user experience. Build a disciplined “morning read”—a curated, high-signal view that surfaces emerging issues and drives timely action beyond standard dashboarding.
- Lead deep-dive interventions: Run focused “surge” efforts to diagnose and unblock critical goals at risk. Move from symptom to root cause, align teams on the response, and stay engaged until the trajectory has measurably improved.
- Bridge Risk, Product, and Strategy: Translate long-horizon company and risk theses into in-year priorities and operating plans. Decompose ambiguous opportunities and threats that cut across Product, Risk, Operations, and go-to-market teams into structured workstreams with clear owners and outcomes.
- Synthesize for leadership: Anticipate the questions senior leaders will ask and prepare clear, decision-oriented materials that turn complex and unstructured risk signals into diagnoses, options, and recommended actions.
- Pressure-test assumptions: Work closely with Risk, Corporate Strategy, Product, and Finance to test whether plans reflect external market dynamics, changing risk patterns, user needs, and Stripe’s execution capacity. Identify gaps early and help teams adapt.
Who you are
We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
- 12+ years of experience in product strategy, business operations, data analytics, product management, or strategic business performance roles, ideally in high-growth technology companies
- Experience in product strategy, product management, or GM-style roles with direct ownership of a P&L or a specific business outcome
- Deeply curious about business models and data, probing into signals, understanding trends and customer usage patterns to uncover novel insights
- A proven track record of directly driving business growth through analytical insights and execution
- Demonstrated ability to apply AI to improve decision-making and operational efficiency, with sound judgment about when and how to use AI tools without sacrificing rigor or quality
- Strong product sense and the ability to understand the technical mechanics of how software products are built and scaled
- Experience navigating ambiguous, cross-functional problems and leading high-stakes interventions with senior stakeholders
- Prior experience with fintech products or complex financial systems is a plus, but not required
- Experience facilitating senior leadership and stakeholder discussions that lead to clear decisions and action on business performance
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in risk, payments, financial services, or fintech
- Ability to build trust and partner with senior leaders and CXOs
- Technical proficiency in SQL / Python / R and data analysis; ability to self-serve and perform independent deep-dives into complex datasets
- Experience developing creative solutions and influencing the roadmaps of cross-functional teams
- Ability to anticipate how product launches, policy changes, and go-to-market activity affect risk outcomes, user experience, and support operations
