Above all else – our success is largely due to our people and our core values, or what we call The Wingstop Way of being entrepreneurial, service-minded, fun, and authentic. We believe having a strong people foundation centered on these collective values creates a crave-worthy culture and talented team, as well as ensures our brand is poised for accelerated growth. We all win together.
What We’ll Need
Wingstop is seeking a Senior Engineer - Data to strengthen the enterprise data foundation that powers analytics and AI. You will design and build the pipelines, models, and platform capabilities that make Wingstop’s data reliable, timely, and usable at scale. This role is hands-on and technical, and carries real influence over architecture, standards, and how the broader data team works. You will partner closely with BI, Applied AI, and Enterprise Technology to ensure data is production-grade before it is consumed. This role is based at the Global Support Center in Dallas, TX.
Role Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable batch and streaming data pipelines
- Develop and maintain dimensional and analytical data models that serve BI and AI use cases
- Lead architecture and design decisions across ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving layers
- Establish and enforce engineering standards — code review, testing, CI/CD, and documentation
- Build data quality, observability, and lineage into pipelines by default
- Integrate data from POS, digital ordering, loyalty, supply chain, finance, and third-party sources
- Optimize platform performance and cost across compute and storage
- Partner with Applied AI and data science to deliver production feature pipelines and model-ready datasets
- Mentor data engineers and raise the technical bar across the team
- Contribute to data governance, security, and access control practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- AWS, Snowflake, or Databricks certifications are a plus
- 7+ years of data engineering experience building production pipelines at scale
- Expert SQL and strong Python
- Deep experience with cloud data platforms Snowflake, Databricks, or Redshift
- Experience with dbt or a comparable transformation framework
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster
- Streaming experience (Kafka, Kinesis, or similar) preferred
- Strong data modeling skills — dimensional, star schema, and modern analytical patterns
- AWS or comparable cloud; infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform) is a plus
- CI/CD, Git-based workflows, and automated testing for data
- Experience with data quality and observability tooling
- Restaurant, retail, or multi-unit consumer data experience is a plus
- Explains technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical partners
- Mentors without gatekeeping
- High standards for reliability and accuracy
- Proactive about finding and fixing problems before consumers do
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management
