Our client, a growing holding company in the restaurant industry, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team.
Compensation - $85,000 - $95,000 plus 5k target bonus
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Manage daily accounting activities and maintain accurate general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and account reconciliations.
- Perform monthly bank, credit-card, and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and analyze monthly P&L and balance-sheet reports.
- Investigate and explain significant financial variances.
- Maintain supporting schedules for balance-sheet accounts.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Restaurant & Cost Accounting
- Monitor and analyze food, beverage, labor, and operating costs.
- Calculate and analyze COGS and prime cost.
- Review inventory counts, inventory valuation, and cost-of-sales calculations.
- Analyze purchasing and vendor activity.
- Identify unusual cost fluctuations and work with operations to resolve discrepancies.
- Support management with restaurant KPI reporting.
Accounts Payable & Payroll
- Oversee and review the accounts payable process.
- Review invoices for proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate vendor records and resolve vendor discrepancies.
- Review AP aging and assist with cash-flow planning.
- Ability to reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Review payroll entries and payroll-related reconciliations.
- Understanding restaurant payroll systems including TIP policy
- Ensure payroll expenses are properly recorded and allocated.
Internal Controls
- Maintain and improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Identify discrepancies and potential control weaknesses.
- Ensure transactions are properly authorized and documented.
Operational Support
- Partner with the General Manager, Executive Chef, Operations, and other department leaders.
- Translate financial information into clear, actionable information for non-financial managers.
- Assist management in understanding P&L performance and cost variances.
- Provide financial insight to support operational and strategic decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in restaurant, hospitality, or food & beverage.
- Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting.
- Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
- Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheet, COGS, inventory, and labor costs.
- Experience with accounts payable and payroll.
- Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial analysis..
Preferred Qualifications
- Restaurant, private club, or members-club accounting experience.
- Experience with high-volume or high-end dining operations.
- Experience with multi-unit operations.
- Experience with restaurant POS systems such as Toast.
- Experience with accounting systems such as Restaurant 365.
- Experience with inventory and recipe/menu costing.
- Previous experience supervising AP, payroll, or accounting staff.
- Experience working with Third Party
