Role Description The Senior Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Topeka, KS. This position is responsible for managing general ledger activities, preparing and reviewing journal entries, and ensuring accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings. Daily responsibilities include reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, preparing financial statements and management reports, and supporting budgeting and forecasting processes. The Senior Accountant will monitor compliance with accounting policies, assist with audits, and help identify opportunities to improve financial procedures and internal controls. The role involves collaborating with leadership and other departments to provide clear financial insights and support decision-making.


Also, be able to complete all types of tax returns through our drake tax software.


Qualifications

  • Strong technical accounting skills, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting for internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, as well as advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other office productivity tools.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit practices, with the ability to maintain compliance and support periodic reviews.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance team members.
  • Ability to work on-site in Topeka, KS, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification or progress toward certification is preferred.
  • Several years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or public accounting setting.
