Data Engineer

Build trusted data products that turn complexity into confident decisions

Vanquis is strengthening how it uses data to improve customer outcomes, insight and competitive advantage. As a Data Engineer, you will transform raw information into dependable data products, connecting cloud and on-premise sources and making data easier to find, understand and use. 

This is a hands-on opportunity with meaningful ownership and visibility across engineering, architecture, delivery and business teams. Your work will reduce manual effort, improve analyst productivity and help shape how our data engineering standards and practices evolve. 

How you’ll make an impact

✅ Turn complex raw data into trusted, usable datasets that support better-informed decisions. 

✅ Build scalable pipelines for batch and near real-time processing across cloud and on-premise sources. 

✅ Strengthen metadata, lineage and data dictionary practices so information remains searchable and traceable. 

✅ Shape data marts that reduce preparation time and give analysts more time to create insight. 

✅ Design for performance, testing, automation and secure delivery across the data platform. 

✅ Share knowledge, document solutions clearly and challenge established approaches to improve delivery. 

 

What you’ll bring

·       Experience designing, building and supporting Snowflake data warehouse solutions. 

·       Experience delivering data engineering, analytics or data warehouse solutions in cloud environments, ideally Azure. 

·       Strong SQL capability and experience building scalable ELT or data pipelines for structured and semi-structured data. 

·       Understanding of data modelling, data marts, metadata-driven development, data dictionaries, data quality, governance and lineage. 

·       Experience delivering through Agile and DevOps practices, including CI/CD, testing, automation and performance tuning. 

·       Confident collaboration with engineers, architects, project teams and business stakeholders, supported by clear documentation and communication. 

·       Experience using Coalesce and integrating data across cloud and on-premise environments would be useful, but is not essential.
