Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Database Developer to design, develop, and optimize data solutions across Microsoft SQL Server and the Databricks Lakehouse Platform.

This role will own the stored procedures, database objects, and data-movement processes that support our enterprise applications. You will partner closely with backend .NET developers to deliver reliable, high-performing data-access solutions and help establish Databricks as an enterprise platform for governed data, analytics, and AI/BI.

The ideal candidate combines deep SQL Server development expertise with practical experience building data-platform solutions. This is a hands-on builder role: you will write production code, solve complex performance and data-integration challenges, and establish reusable standards and patterns for other engineering teams to follow.

Responsibilities

Databricks

  • Develop and support solutions using Databricks, including Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Databricks SQL, notebooks, and workflows.
  • Help establish catalogs, schemas, tables, volumes, permissions, lineage, and data-quality standards within Unity Catalog.
  • Support data movement, ETL/ELT, batch processing, and incremental synchronization using Databricks.
  • Develop reusable connection patterns, templates, and standards to support Databricks adoption across enterprise applications.
  • Work with Databricks Lakebase and PostgreSQL to support transactional and operational use cases.
  • Build and maintain AI/BI Genie spaces using curated enterprise data, including semantic models, instructions, and sample queries.
  • Troubleshoot Databricks jobs, workflows, data pipelines, and performance issues.

SQL Server and Database Development

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and other database objects in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Write and maintain complex T-SQL for data movement, system integrations, batch loads, incremental syncs, and application data retrieval.
  • Tune queries and indexes, analyze execution plans, and resolve blocking, deadlocks, and long-running jobs.
  • Manage database schemas, deployment scripts, and versioning of database objects through source control and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ensure database code meets standards for data integrity, security, performance, and auditability.
  • Partner with backend .NET developers to translate application requirements into effective stored procedures and data-access patterns.
  • Review queries and data-access code using Entity Framework, Dapper, ADO.NET, and related technologies.
  • Participate in sprint planning, technical design reviews, code reviews, and other Agile engineering activities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify data needs and deliver practical, maintainable solutions.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of hands-on professional experience developing or supporting Databricks solutions in a production or enterprise environment.
  • Six or more years of professional experience developing on Microsoft SQL Server, with strong T-SQL and stored-procedure experience.
  • Experience with Databricks Lakehouse technologies, including Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Databricks SQL, notebooks, and workflows.
  • Proven experience developing SQL for data movement, ETL/ELT, system integrations, and application data retrieval.
  • Strong database performance-tuning skills, including execution plans, indexing, statistics, blocking, deadlocks, and concurrency troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and familiarity with Databricks Lakebase.
  • Experience collaborating with application developers, preferably in a .NET or C# environment.
  • Experience using Git and CI/CD pipelines for database and data-platform code.
  • Familiarity with Azure services such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL, Key Vault, and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Knowledge of data governance, row-level security, column-level security, data quality, and enterprise compliance requirements.
  • Experience with AI/BI Genie or similar natural-language analytics tools is preferred.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar solutions, is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
