Contract Staff Accountant

Knoxville, TN | Contract Position

Our client, a growing and dynamic organization in the Knoxville area, is seeking a detail-oriented Contract Staff Accountant to support the accounting team through a period of continued growth. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to key accounting functions, assist with month-end close activities, and collaborate with multiple departments in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and enjoys solving problems while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
• Perform account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintain accrual schedules and support fixed asset accounting
• Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies
• Support financial reporting activities and schedule preparation
• Assist with audit requests and documentation gathering
• Work closely with AP, AR, Payroll, and Finance teams to ensure accurate financial records
• Identify process improvements and help streamline accounting procedures
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 2+ years of general accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliations
• Experience supporting month-end close activities
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial reporting
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms preferred
