About Navixy

Navixy is a global telematics and fleet management platform serving partners and enterprise customers worldwide. We process high-volume IoT data from vehicles and assets, power real-time analytics, automation workflows, and increasingly AI-driven functionality.

We are evolving from a traditional telematics platform into a data-native, AI-augmented system — with strong foundations in deterministic processing (IoT Logic, IoT Events, IoT Query) and an expanding probabilistic/AI layer.

We're now looking for a Head of Data Platform to build and lead this next phase from Belgrade.

We are building a structured, scalable, and cost-efficient data platform that supports:

  • Bronze / Silver / Gold data layers
  • Real-time and batch processing
  • Product analytics
  • AI-ready data access

We are looking for a senior leader to bring system, discipline, and delivery to our data platform.

The role:

You will lead the design and delivery of Navixy's data platform – the architecture, the pipelines, the processes, and the team that makes it all work.

You will:

  • Define how data is ingested, stored, transformed, versioned, and promoted
  • Establish disciplined Bronze → Silver → Gold processes
  • Optimize storage and processing cost
  • Introduce repeatable, lean shipping practices
  • Make the data layer reliable, testable, and AI-ready

You will work closely with domain leadership and engineering, but you are expected to own the "how."

Your responsibilities:

  • Define and evolve the data platform architecture (streaming + storage + transformation)
  • Establish versioned transformation pipelines (SQL/dbt/code-based approaches as appropriate)
  • Formalize promotion flows between Bronze, Silver, and Gold
  • Introduce data contracts and testing discipline
  • Define multi-tenant data isolation standards
  • Optimize storage cost (partitioning, tiering, compression, hot/cold strategies)
  • Establish data reliability metrics and SLAs
  • Ensure frequent, incremental delivery
  • Build a clean semantic layer suitable for AI agents and structured data connectors
  • Build and lead a small, growing data team (engineering, analytics, platform ops)
  • Be hands-on when needed

Technical Scope:

We operate across:

  • Streaming systems (Kafka-class)
  • CDC pipelines
  • PostgreSQL-class operational storage
  • Analytical storage layers (ClickHouse-class)
  • Transformation pipelines – SQL, streaming, and programmatic (Go, Python)
  • Multi-tenant PaaS architecture
  • High-volume IoT event data (billions of telemetry points from 2,000+ IoT device types sending structured and unstructured data)

The data itself presents real challenges:

  • Irregular and lossy telemetry. Devices report at inconsistent intervals, drop packets, go offline in tunnels or dead zones, and resume with backfilled timestamps. Your pipelines must handle gaps, duplicates, and out-of-order arrivals gracefully.
  • Sensor data that lies. Fuel levels drift, GPS coordinates jump, temperature sensors spike. Distinguishing real events (a fuel theft, a route deviation) from noise requires calibration logic, statistical smoothing, and domain-aware thresholds – not just raw storage.
  • Time-series at multi-tenant scale. Every organization's data has different density, different device mixes, different retention needs. Partitioning, tiering, and compression strategies must work per-tenant, not just globally.
  • Heterogeneous device semantics. Two thousand device types means the same concept (ignition, speed, fuel level) arrives in different encodings, units, and precision. The Silver layer must normalize this into a coherent, queryable model.
  • Event detection on continuous streams. Business-meaningful events (geofence entry, harsh braking, excessive idling, driver fatigue) are derived from raw telemetry through stateful computation — windowed aggregations, spatial joins, threshold crossings with hysteresis.
  • Geospatial at volume. Millions of coordinate pairs per day matched against tens of thousands of geofences and points of interest. Spatial indexing and matching must be fast and accurate.

You should be comfortable working at this level of system and data complexity.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience building layered data architectures (Bronze/Silver/Gold or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of streaming and stateful processing
  • Deep SQL and transformation design experience
  • Experience reducing infrastructure and storage cost at scale
  • Experience introducing process and discipline into existing teams
  • Ability to be both architect and operator
  • Strong technical credibility

Nice to have:

  • Background in IoT, telematics, fleet management, or sensor data
  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS data isolation patterns
  • Familiarity with geospatial data (PostGIS)
  • Experience building data infrastructure that serves AI agents or structured data APIs
  • Comfort with AI-assisted development workflows (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar)

You must be resourceful. We expect you to find answers, not escalate uncertainty.

What success looks like:

  • Data transformations are versioned and reproducible
  • Bronze layer cost is controlled and optimized
  • Silver/Gold promotion is systematic
  • Shipping cadence is predictable
  • Business metrics are consistent and trusted
  • AI agents can safely interact with curated datasets
  • The data team operates with clarity and discipline

What we offer:

  • Hybrid work in Belgrade (coworking once per week), 40-hour workweek
  • Conte
  • A platform processing real-world IoT data at scale – not hypothetical infrastructure
  • Direct influence on architecture and product decisions – you'll work closely with the leadership
  • Professional development: workshops, conferences, courses, English classes
  • Wellbeing: psychological support, FitPass, health insurance

Why this role matters:

Navixy processes real-world signals at scale. If the data platform is weak, everything slows down. If the data platform is structured and reliable, it becomes strategic leverage. Navixy's durable value is moving up the stack – from displaying device data to making it programmable and accessible. The Head of Data will be central to that transition: building the data infrastructure that turns Navixy from a tracking platform into the data backbone of the IoT service provider ecosystem.
