Position Overview:

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will support discovery, documentation, migration coordination, test readiness, stakeholder engagement, and migration tracking activities across the CRDM (Credit Risk Data Mart) migration lifecycle for migration from on-prem SQL Server to Snowflake, including ETL, semantic model, reporting, and downstream consumer migrations. This will be a lift and shift migration. This role bridges business stakeholders, analytics teams, data consumers, and technical delivery teams to ensure assets, dependencies, reports, and consumer systems are accurately identified, documented, validated, and transitioned.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for identifying opportunities for improving Data and Business Intelligence Solutions.
  • Data subject-matter expertise, or proven ability to identify and collaborate with the appropriate data SMEs. Works on complex projects/teams independently and acts as a mentor and lead to other Analysts.
  • Create user stories and write acceptance criteria.
  • Create and maintain inventories of database tables, views, attributes, stored procedures, code, SSIS packages, SSAS cubes, dimensions, measures, reports, reporting dependencies, and downstream consumer systems such as SAS, Moody’s, and internal applications.
  • Partner with business users to identify actively used data assets, reports, queries, and opportunities to retire unused assets.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, source-to-target mappings (STTM), data lineage, and dependency documentation.
  • Serve as a lead for Data Q&A – Perform functional testing and data validation and liaison between business, developers, and other technical teams to coordinate UAT planning, execution, defect tracking, business signoff, report validation, migration readiness, and consumer system migration activities.
  • Track inventories, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and status throughout the migration lifecycle, including EDP (Enterprise Data Platform) adoption work to repoint CRDM-sourced EDW objects to corresponding EDP objects.
  • Establish processes and automation for the enterprise-grade Data & BI platform.
  • Ensure the Security, Governance, Enterprise Architecture guidance and protocols are adhered.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and issues to the project team .


Outcomes:

Following are some of the key deliverables expected from this role:

  • Functional requirements documents (BRD) – with business requirements, dashboards and views, calculated measures, algorithmic inputs, SLAs, etc.
  • Source to Target mapping documents
  • Technical specifications documents (TSD) – with architecture, data dictionary definitions, data model specifications, wireframes, computations/formulae for calculated measures, etc.
  • Test strategy, test plan and test cases for testing and data validation
  • Create data testing/validation scripts/Alteryx workflows
  • Produce operational support documentation (and runbooks with dev team’s help)
  • Produce release notes/documentation
  • Create documentation for change control
  • Provide end-user adoption support
  • Other project documentation and artifacts as defined and assigned by Project Manager or Data & BI leadership

Key Tools/Technologies:

  • SQL and other relational database concepts and languages required
  • PowerBI
  • SQL Server Management Studio

  • Advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Data ingestion/ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory, SSIS, etc.
  • Data warehouses, Data Lakes, and other data products such as Snowflake, Databricks, etc.
  • Finance/Fintech applications, systems, processes and best practices
  • Expertise in source control management (ADO branching, merging, and release processes)
  • Ability to use pivot tables based on data cubes
  • Sufficient understanding of SSIS and SSAS to support accurate migration and documentation

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in a related position working with dashboard development along with expertise in transforming the required data tables.
  • Strong BIA/BSA experience supporting data warehouse, analytics, or cloud migration initiatives.
  • Strong demonstrated experience acting as a business liaison and delivering both strategic and operational solutions to technical teams required.
  • Experience owning, supporting and delivering the full data life cycle development and its various phases required.
  • Advanced level knowledge of SQL and Data Modeling for SQL and NoSQL Repositories required.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server, Snowflake, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, SSAS, and Power BI.
  • Experience with data mapping, lineage, requirements gathering, documentation, and UAT coordination required.
  • Advanced level knowledge of data manipulation languages and tools such as Python, Alteryx etc. preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of multiple business intelligence and data discovery tool such as Tableau, Alteryx or Power BI required.
  • Understanding of Cloud Computing is required.
  • Understanding of data engineering vocabulary and data architecture and experience working with Azure, DataOps, JIRA or other Agile development team tools required.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, organizational, and communication skills required.
  • Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and implement projects in accordance with established project management methodologies required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, IT, Business or equivalent work or educational experience required.


Pay:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $85,000 - $130,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides for 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take the time needed for either sick time or vacation.
