You Will Do This By
- Supporting month-end closing of varying complexity which includes: calculating accrual/reserve balances, analyzing general ledger account data for accuracy, booking various other journal entries and statistical key figures.
- Preparing complex reports daily, weekly and monthly, which may include but not be limited to inventory, production, and cost of quality.
- Reviewing variance account postings for accuracy throughout the month and correcting system transactions.
- Reviewing detail of accounts and following-up on month-end closing items when necessary.
- Performing financial analysis and communicating findings to enable management to make informed business decisions and take action.
- Identifying and recommending improvements for managerial and operational controls.
- Working with external auditors quarterly and at year-end; including providing audit work papers as well as requested supporting documentation, walking auditors through calculations and providing data for various other detailed testing.
- Performing standard costing procedures in a timely manner on any new materials or finished goods as they are set up within the plant.
- Assessing potential capital expense requests through financial modeling of ROI and payback durations while monitoring realized versus forecasted project expenditures.
- Supporting AOP and forecasting cycles for the plant, working closely with department heads to build accurate labor, overhead, and capital expense budgets.
- Naturally curious, refuses to accept the status quo, and loves digging into the root cause of variances.
- Able to translate complex financial data into simple, actionable operational targets for non-financial managers.
- Wanting to step beyond traditional desktop financial analysis and be actively involved on the shop floor, partnering with engineering, production managers, and supply chain leaders.
- Resilient, adaptable, and can juggle the urgency of manufacturing with the strict deadlines of month-end close.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field OR equivalent education and experience
- Minimum of three years of accounting/finance experience preferred
- SAP experience preferred
- Manufacturing accounting experience preferred
- Comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
- Strong analytical skills necessary to review/analyze accounting and financial data, substantiate financial statement balances and prepare financial statement account reconciliation
- High ability to identify, measure, evaluate & improve, if necessary, the effectiveness of accounting, financial, managerial and operational controls
- Strong verbal & written communication & interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse group of people in a team environment
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interface with all levels
- Advanced computer skills including advanced knowledge of and experience working with spreadsheet software
- Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects with a strong attention to accuracy and detail
- Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
