Vice President of Finance (de-facto CFO)

Comp: $180k-$275k, 30-40% bonus + LTIP

Finatal is partnering with a leading private equity-backed, vertically integrated consumer products and eCommerce business to appoint a Vice President of Finance. Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will serve as the company's senior-most finance leader and a key strategic partner to the executive team, Board of Directors, and private equity sponsor.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a true de facto CFO role, with broad responsibility across Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Risk Management, Legal, and HR. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the company's financial strategy, enhancing operational performance, and supporting its next phase of growth and value creation.

While the position has enterprise-wide leadership responsibilities, a key mandate will be to elevate and build the FP&A function. As a result, this role requires a hands-on finance executive who is comfortable operating as both strategist and operator, personally driving budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, KPI reporting, and financial decision support while building the foundation for a scalable finance organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, leadership team, Board of Directors, and private equity sponsor.
  • Lead all core finance functions, including FP&A, accounting, treasury, tax, cash management, and financial reporting.
  • Build, lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting organization, establishing a high-performing team, scalable processes, and a culture of accountability, analytical rigor, and continuous improvement.
  • Own the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the monthly close, financial reporting, internal controls, audit, tax, and compliance processes, ensuring best-in-class financial stewardship and governance.
  • Own Board, lender, investor, and sponsor reporting, delivering clear insights on business performance, liquidity, strategic initiatives, and value creation priorities.
  • Manage treasury operations, banking relationships, credit facilities, debt covenant compliance, working capital, and liquidity planning, including ownership of the 13-week cash flow forecast.
  • Build and professionalize the FP&A function, establishing best-in-class forecasting, budgeting, reporting, KPI tracking, and business performance management processes.
  • Provide financial leadership around demand planning, inventory productivity, gross margin expansion, and profitability analysis across brands, channels, customers, and SKUs, helping drive operational efficiency and informed resource allocation decisions.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Marketing leadership to drive growth, profitability, inventory optimization, and data-driven decision making.
  • Provide executive oversight of Legal, HR, and Risk Management functions.
  • Act as executive sponsor for the company's ongoing NetSuite implementation and broader finance transformation initiatives, helping build the systems, controls, and infrastructure required to support future growth.
  • Support strategic planning, pricing initiatives, commercial decision making, M&A evaluations, due diligence, acquisition integration activities, and post-acquisition integration of systems, reporting, financial processes, and controls and other value creation projects.

Ideal Background:

  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience spanning FP&A, accounting, treasury, and cash flow management.
  • Experience as a CFO, VP Finance, Head of Finance, or a Finance Director serving as the clear #1 or a highly influential #2 finance leader with broad enterprise-wide responsibility.
  • Private equity-backed company experience strongly preferred, with demonstrated success building FP&A capabilities, reporting infrastructure, and forecasting processes in a lean or high-growth organization.
  • Experience managing lender relationships, credit facilities, debt covenants, and working capital in an inventory-intensive business.
  • Background within consumer products, CPG, eCommerce, retail, manufacturing, or distribution environments strongly preferred.
  • Experience of operating in businesses with large SKU counts and complex inventory environments, with a strong understanding of demand planning, inventory management, gross margin performance, and customer/channel profitability analytics.
  • Being able to operate in a business with large SKU counts and complex inventory environments.
  • Executive presence and communication skills with experience presenting to Boards, investors, lenders, and private equity stakeholders.
  • NetSuite implementation or finance transformation experience highly desirable.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.
