Data Architect | £800 per day | Outside IR35 | 12 Month Contract | Fully Remote | Financial Services

Overview:

We are currently working with a leading Financial Services organisation looking to engage an experienced Data Architect on an initial 12 month contract.

The successful candidate will initially support an assessment of the organisation's existing data landscape, before playing a key role in defining the future state architecture and supporting the development of its wider data platform and pipelines.

Role Responsibilities:

• Assess the existing data architecture, platforms, systems and data landscape
• Review how data is currently captured, stored, integrated, managed and consumed across the organisation
• Identify architectural gaps, technical debt, data quality issues and areas of risk
• Define current-state and future-state data architectures
• Design scalable and secure cloud-based data architecture within Microsoft Azure
• Design and develop robust data pipelines and integration patterns across multiple source systems
• Support the development and evolution of the organisation's wider data platform
• Define architecture principles, standards and best practices
• Improve data governance, ownership, quality, lineage and lifecycle management
• Ensure architecture aligns with GDPR, regulatory and information governance requirements
• Support improvements across reporting, analytics and BI capabilities
• Work closely with engineering teams to translate architectural designs into deliverable solutions
• Build scalable data foundations to support future AI and advanced analytics initiatives
• Produce clear technical documentation, architectural designs and roadmaps
• Work closely with senior technology and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate these into appropriate data solutions

Key Skills & Experience:

• Extensive experience working as a Data Architect within complex enterprise environments
• Strong commercial experience with Microsoft Azure
• Strong understanding of modern cloud-based data architectures
• Experience designing and implementing data pipelines and data integration solutions
• Strong knowledge of Data Warehousing, Data Lakes and/or Lakehouse architectures
• Experience designing current-state and future-state data architectures
• Strong understanding of data modelling, data flows and integration patterns
• Experience across Data Strategy, Data Governance and Data Management
• Strong knowledge of data quality, lineage, ownership and lifecycle management
• Understanding of GDPR, data classification, retention and regulatory requirements
• Experience working with reporting, analytics and BI environments, ideally including Power BI
• Experience assessing existing data environments and making recommendations for improvement
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical architecture
• Experience working closely with Data Engineers and wider technical delivery teams
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage with both technical and senior business stakeholders
• Previous experience within Financial Services or another highly regulated environment
