North Alabama CPA Firm | Full-Time Position
A well-established CPA firm in North Alabama is seeking an accountant to join our team. We are looking for a motivated, professional individual who wants to build a long-term career in public accounting and become an integral part of our firm.
This position provides exposure to a broad range of public accounting services and clients, including businesses, nonprofit organizations, estates and trusts, and other entities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop both technical and client-service skills while working directly with experienced professionals.
For the right individual, there is potential for future ownership in the firm.
Responsibilities will include a variety of public accounting services, including:
· Performing attest engagements, including compilations, reviews, and audits.
· Preparing and analyzing financial statements and related workpapers.
· Performing audit and review procedures and documenting work in accordance with professional standards.
· Preparing individual, business, nonprofit, estate, trust, and other tax returns.
· Assisting with tax planning and tax compliance for small and medium-sized businesses and their owners.
· Researching tax and accounting issues and assisting with recommendations to clients.
· Assisting clients with accounting, financial reporting, and general business consulting needs.
· Working with QuickBooks and other accounting software.
· Communicating directly with clients to obtain information, resolve questions, and provide professional assistance.
· Assisting with special projects and other client assignments as needed.
· Maintaining appropriate documentation and complying with applicable professional, ethical, and regulatory standards.
· Developing and maintaining strong professional relationships with clients and other members of the firm.
QualificationsRequired:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
· Strong understanding of accounting principles.
· Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
· Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
· Professional demeanor and commitment to providing excellent client service.
· Ability and willingness to learn and apply new accounting, tax, and technology concepts.
Preferred:
· Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation or MBA.
· CPA license or active pursuit of CPA licensure.
· Prior public accounting experience.
· Experience with audits, reviews, and compilations.
· Experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
· Experience with nonprofit, estate, and trust taxation or accounting.
· Experience with QuickBooks Online and other accounting software.
· Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
· Experience with accounting and tax research tools and professional accounting software.
