About The Role

The IT Support Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation of technology systems within a wholesale trade environment. This position is an on-site role and is responsible for providing timely and effective technical support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues, and maintaining network infrastructure. The technician will collaborate closely with various departments to understand their technology needs and implement solutions that enhance productivity and operational efficiency. By proactively monitoring systems and troubleshooting problems, the IT Support Technician helps minimize downtime and supports business continuity. Ultimately, this role contributes to the overall success of the organization by enabling reliable and secure IT services that support daily business functions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in Information Technology or related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in an IT support or help desk role, preferably within a wholesale trade or similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems, common business software, and basic networking concepts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with non-technical users and document technical information clearly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems used in wholesale trade environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud services, virtualization technologies, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Prior experience supporting remote users and managing mobile devices.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple support requests simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line technical support to employees by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, peripherals, and software applications to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and wireless access points, to ensure reliable connectivity.
  • Document support activities, maintain inventory of IT assets, and escalate complex issues to senior IT staff when necessary.
  • Assist in the implementation of IT policies, procedures, and security protocols to safeguard company data and systems.
  • Conduct regular system updates, backups, and preventive maintenance to reduce the risk of technical failures.
  • Train end-users on new technologies and best practices to maximize effective use of IT resources.
