BI Data Engineer
Our client, an international company with HQ in Fribourg, is looking for a Business Intelligence Data Engineer to join the team in Fribourg. The job is 100% onsite.
As part of structuring its information system and modernizing its management tools our client wishes to strengthen its BI/Data capabilities.
The BI ecosystem (Data Warehouse, SSRS and Tableau reports, BI Catalogue) currently forms a central management platform for headquarters and multi-country subsidiaries. Its reliability, evolution, and operation currently rely on limited capacity, which needs to be consolidated sustainably.
This role aims to take over and develop BI operations: maintaining operational readiness and developing reports, upgrading the Data Warehouse, and supporting ongoing cross-functional Data projects. Depending on their profile and evolving priorities, the successful candidate may progressively contribute to data integration and governance topics, while the architecture/MDM project will be addressed separately.
Main responsibilities:
1. BI REPORT DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE
- Design, develop, and maintain the Group's BI Catalog reports and dashboards (SSRS, Tableau).
- Ensure the reliability, performance, and availability of reports in production.
- Prioritize and process enhancement and corrective requests submitted by business units and subsidiaries.
2. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL BI SUPPORT
- Provide user support (headquarters and subsidiaries) for BI tools and reports.
- Manage BI platforms, access, and ticket tracking.
- Contribute to the professional development of Business Owners and key users.
3. DATA WAREHOUSE EVOLUTION AND MAINTENANCE
- Develop the DWH (schemas, tables, views, data marts) to meet business needs.
- Develop and maintain data feeds (ETL/SSIS) from source applications.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and usability.
4. SUPPORT FOR ONGOING DATA PROJECTS
- Contribute to cross-functional data projects (Agro Repository, Industry Report, SEI/Sage Enterprise Intelligence, IBM PA, ArcGIS, etc.).
- Participate, according to priorities, in initial data integration and governance initiatives.
5. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COORDINATION
- Work in conjunction with development teams. / Applications, infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
- Reporting on progress, risks, and necessary trade-offs.
Required skills:
- Proven experience in BI: design, development, and industrialization of reports (SSRS, Tableau, or equivalent).
- Strong command of SQL and relational databases (SQL Server).
- Experience in data warehouse modeling and evolution.
- Knowledge of ETL/data integration (SSIS or equivalent).
- Familiarity with ERP environments.
- Understanding of data quality and governance issues.
Your profile:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science/Information Systems (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in BI/Data Engineering (report development, Data Warehouse, data integration).
- Experience in a multi-entity/multi-country environment is a plus.
- Languages: French; Native speaker / English; C1 level
Nice-to-have assets (depending on profile):
This position is open to various profiles. Depending on their skills and interests, candidates may bring additional value to one of the following areas - not required and not cumulative:
- DBA focus - administration, optimization, and security of SQL Server databases.
- IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) focus - integration and development for the Finance and Sustainability teams.
- Data Architecture/MDM focus - contribution to the future Group data repository and integration flows.
