Responsibilities
The HCF department is adequately staffed by highly skilled, motivated and inquisitive individuals that deliver complex analysis of financial and utilization data to support revenue enhancement and identify cost savings opportunities. The Senior Analyst provides financial data, reporting and other actionable information to the HCF Management Team and other departments regarding the business units, process, products and/or service lines as directed by the manager. The Senior Analyst is able to independently identify areas requiring investigation and perform analyses and recommend solutions with little to no guidance. Responsibilities related to this position include:
- Creating/producing financial reports, analysis and financial reconciliations required to understand the key drivers of the relevant business unit or service line
- Helping to develop the systems and processes that are the foundation for reporting and analysis
- Providing analytical support to internal customers including the Central Business Office, Pharmacy Services, Business Planning, Accounting, Managed Care Contracting, Claims, Marketing, and Utilization Management departments and partnering with the Business Intelligence team to automate and improve reporting
- Presenting findings and recommending solutions to internal and external customers and KS Executive team
- Acting as a subject matter and technical expert for more junior analysts
Primary Responsibilities
- Production and analysis of reports and data required to understand the key drivers of the relevant business unit or service line
- Given analytical project or task data requirements, work independently to access and validate needed data from multiple disjointed data sources
- Implement appropriate measurement and analytical methods to achieve specified analytical project or task objectives
- Produce summary, detail and dashboard reports and management summaries that present data findings in a professional, concise, and readable format for content and audience
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and analyze trends
- Identify potential problems with analysis assumptions and data quality and apply established quality assurance processes to resolve problems or escalate them as needed
- Analyze findings and provide actionable insights and recommendations based on analysis and drilldown
- Develop analyses and models to estimate the impact of different scenarios, assisting in the business decision-making process
- Help to develop and maintain the systems and processes that are the foundation for reporting and analysis
- Develop and implement quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy of project data, results, written reports, and presentation materials
- Create and maintain documentation of report processes and logic applied in reporting
- Coordinate with Business Intelligence (BI) team as needed to ensure data warehouses used or maintained by the department are accurate and complete
- Identify opportunities for increased automation of reports and processes and work with department tools or BI to implement
- Contribute to the ongoing development of departmental expertise through participation in team meetings, trainings, and independent research as required
- Manage ad hoc projects of varying complexity and duration while completing routine workload
- Present findings and analysis to HCF Management team, KS Executive team, and internal and external customers. Communicate professionally to provide decision support, scope analysis requests, and provide recommendations and actionable insights as needed.
- Train and coach less-experienced analysts on data retrieval techniques, programming practices, and statistical analysis and data visualization methods in the context of specific tasks
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Healthcare Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis, or decision support, or medical economics, or healthcare informatics, or managed healthcare or equivalent combination of education and experience to demonstrate ability to succeed in healthcare analytics
- Experience with SQL or other programming tools (including Visual Basic and Excel macros)
- Experience writing, debugging and documenting complex queries against relational databases
- Demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated analytical/modeling skills with ability to convert raw data into actionable business insights
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Power Point and Microsoft Word
- Fluent in English both verbal and written, effective communicator
- High level of accuracy with excellent attention to detail
- Solid organizational and time management skills
- Proven ability to work in a dynamic setting and balance multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
- Superior analytical skills
- Ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner
- Experience in the healthcare industry with understanding of data in healthcare organizations (including claims data, ICD10, Medicare Advantage, Health Insurance Marketplace, capitated payment models)
- Experience with Statistical Software (including SAS, R, Minitab, SPSS)
- Hands-on experience with encounter submission related to CMS risk adjustment claims
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and report on business units, products or service lines with minimal supervision/direction
- Familiarity with EPIC and Clarity reporting data warehouse
- Knowledge of Crystal Reports, Microsoft Access, or SSRS
