Location: Fort Stockton, TX, Onsite
Contract Duration: 6-7 months
Job Summary
We are seeking a Project Controls Analyst to support capital and operating projects through project scheduling, cost tracking, financial controls, reporting, and project data management. The analyst will maintain accurate project information within enterprise systems, support project managers and cross-functional stakeholders, and provide reporting and analysis related to project progress, budgets, expenditures, and forecasts.
The ideal candidate will have experience with project controls, project cost analysis, scheduling, financial reporting, ERP/project management systems, and data management, preferably within the energy, utilities, construction, or infrastructure industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules and integrate individual schedules into master project schedules.
- Maintain project data within capital and operating project management systems.
- Assign and maintain project budgets, project managers, priorities, descriptions, statuses, and other project-related information.
- Coordinate with project managers and functional teams to ensure project data is accurate, complete, and properly maintained.
- Maintain financial and document controls to ensure accurate project cost allocations and reporting.
- Support Finance, Tax, Asset Accounting, and other stakeholder departments with project controls and financial information.
- Initiate and maintain project information within ERP and other project management systems.
- Load project estimates and supporting information as part of project closeout activities.
- Prepare project audit summaries, closeout documentation, and supporting reports for project managers and other stakeholders.
- Create system queries, reports, dashboards, and other analytical outputs as required.
- Produce project status reports covering schedule progress, costs, budgets, and overall project performance.
- Monitor project data and perform verification activities for projects in development and under construction.
- Prepare operating status reports related to ongoing operation and maintenance costs for projects in service.
- Prepare monthly project reports and facilitate meetings with project managers and functional group leaders to review project progress and performance.
- Update project schedules and project management system data based on project status and stakeholder feedback.
- Support regulatory reporting and compliance activities by collecting project information and compiling supporting documentation.
- Research approved project budgets and expenditures to support variance analysis and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits of capital and operating project costs.
- Perform project cost analysis and customer agreement pricing analysis as needed.
- Assist with system enhancements, testing, user training, and documentation of new processes and procedures.
- Respond to end-user questions and provide assistance with project data systems.
- Participate in project data systems meetings and collaborate with stakeholders to improve data quality and system functionality.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, applicable regulations, and project controls standards.
Qualifications
- Experience in project controls, project coordination, project cost analysis, scheduling, financial analysis, or a related field.
- Experience working with project budgets, expenditures, forecasts, schedules, and status reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with ERP, project management, financial, or enterprise data systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with project managers, Finance, Accounting, Tax, and other cross-functional teams.
- Experience in the energy, oil & gas, utilities, construction, or infrastructure industry.
- Experience supporting capital projects and operating projects.
- Experience with project scheduling and master schedule development.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of project cost controls, capital accounting, asset accounting, and project closeout processes.
- Experience supporting regulatory reporting or public utility commission requirements.
- Experience with project audits, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Experience providing system training or supporting enterprise system implementations and enhancements.
