We are looking for someone who is experienced, trustworthy, organized, proactive, and detail-oriented.
This is a small company, so the right person needs to be comfortable wearing several hats and taking ownership of their responsibilities. You should be someone who doesn't simply enter transactions, but understands why they are being coded a certain way and how the accounting affects individual construction projects and the company as a whole.
Because this position will have access to sensitive financial and business information, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality are extremely important.
We value someone who communicates well, works collaboratively, is comfortable dealing with vendors and subcontractors, and takes pride in keeping the books and supporting documentation accurate and up to date.
Schedule25–30 hours per week
Schedule can be somewhat flexible for the right candidate, but consistent availability during normal business hours is preferred.
CompensationCompetitive hourly compensation based on experience and qualifications.
To ApplyPlease submit a resume outlining your bookkeeping experience, QuickBooks experience, construction-industry experience, and experience with lien waivers or construction insurance, if applicable.
Please also include your desired hourly rate and availability.
I think the insurance audit requirement is particularly useful as a screening question. I'd ask candidates directly: “Have you ever prepared documentation for a General Liability or Workers’ Compensation insurance audit? If so, what information did you have to provide?” Their answer will quickly tell you whether they've actually worked in construction accounting or are simply familiar with QuickBooks.
