Job Description

UHY is seeking experienced Accounting Manager Consultants for project-based and interim assignments supporting clients across Florida, with a primary focus on Miami and South Florida. Engagement duration and onsite, hybrid, or remote requirements will vary by client, and consultants should be prepared to integrate quickly with established finance and accounting teams.

The Accounting Manager Consultant will provide hands-on support across month-end and quarter-end close, general ledger activity, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, audit support, internal controls and process improvement. This role requires an experienced accounting professional who can assess the current environment quickly, own critical close work, resolve complex or aged accounting issues, strengthen documentation and controls, and help stabilize or improve the accounting function with limited ramp-up.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and execute key components of the month-end and quarter-end close, including journal entries, account analysis and issue resolution.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules and general ledger activity; drive cleanup of aged or unreconciled balances.
• Analyze accounting results and investigate variances, unusual activity, classification issues and other items affecting reporting accuracy.
• Prepare and support internal and external financial reporting, including management schedules, consolidations and multi-entity reporting where applicable.
• Coordinate audit support and prepare schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation for external auditors and other reviewers.
• Assess accounting controls and recurring workflows; support remediation of control gaps and SOX requirements where applicable.
• Improve close calendars, reconciliations, documentation and recurring processes through practical standardization, automation and workflow improvements.
• Partner with controllers, finance leaders and cross-functional teams to resolve issues, document work and transition sustainable processes to the client team.

Skills And Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on close, general ledger, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience resolving complex accounting issues in fast-paced or changing environments.
• Experience in large, multi-entity, public-company, private-equity-backed or similarly complex environments strongly preferred.
• Ability to enter a client environment, establish priorities quickly, work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver critical accounting work with limited ramp-up.
• Prior consulting, interim, project-based, advisory, professional-services, staffing or comparable client-service experience strongly preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with platforms such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Workday Financial Management, BlackLine, FloQast or comparable systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication with client leadership, auditors and cross-functional teams; able to adapt to changing systems and support practical process improvement and knowledge transfer.
