Controller Description
Our client, a privately owned specialty construction company ($15-$20M), is looking for a Controller to join their team just outside of Estero, FL. Given the specialized nature of their work, they operate in a relatively unique market with limited direct competition, providing a level of stability that can be difficult to find in the construction industry. This is more than a traditional Controller role. The owner is looking for someone who can take ownership of the financial function, help him understand what is happening in the business and serve as a true financial partner. You’ll have a lot of visibility into the business and will be expected to ask questions, dig into the numbers and clearly explain what is driving the financial results. The company has established processes and reporting in place, so this role is less about starting from scratch and more about making sure the right things are happening, identifying opportunities to improve and ensuring the accounting function continues to run effectively. You’ll need to be comfortable being hands-on with the details while also stepping back and looking at the bigger picture. If you’re looking for a role where you can simply maintain the status quo, this probably isn’t the opportunity for you. If you’re looking for a role where your opinion will not only be valued, but sought after, this could be a great match.
