Position Overview

The Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting functions to maintain accurate financial records and support timely financial reporting. This position assists with month-end close activities, account reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and general accounting processes.

The accountant works closely with the accounting team and operational departments to ensure financial information is accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable regulatory requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Budgeting
  • Assist with the preparation of departmental budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Assist department managers with budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Monitor actual financial results against budget and forecast.
  • Prepare and provide budgettoactual variance information as requested.
  • Assist with tracking project expenditures and identifying significant variances.
  • Accounting and Financial Reporting
  • Perform general accounting functions and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries as required.
  • Perform account reconciliations and research discrepancies.
  • Assist with monthend and yearend closing activities.
  • Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with ore inventory, depletion, and depreciation accounting.
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliations.
  • Assist with capital accounting activities, including capital expenditures and fixed assets.
  • Prepare and maintain financial reports and supporting documentation.
  • Generate monthly purchasing reports and complete related reconciliations.
  • Assist with completion of the Gold Bar financial dashboard.
  • Ensure required monthly reports from site mining and processing operations are received and properly maintained.
  • Prepare activity reports and other financial information as requested.
  • Maintain accurate and organized accounting records.
  • Operational and Technical Execution
  • Analyze financial information and assist in identifying discrepancies, trends, and variances.
  • Provide accounting support to department managers and operational teams.
  • Assist with financial reviews and provide supporting information for budget and forecast discussions.
  • Work collaboratively with the accounting team to meet reporting and monthend deadlines.
  • Assist with resolving accounting and financial reporting issues.
  • Administration and Controls
  • Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for accounting transactions and reconciliations.
  • Participate in staff and department meetings.
  • Complete routine accounting administration and reporting.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and company information.
  • Support accurate and timely completion of monthend close activities.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental
  • Actively support the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Comply with applicable safety, health, and environmental policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate and follow safetyrelated best practices.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and report hazards or concerns as appropriate.
  • CrossFunctional Relationships
  • Work cooperatively with all departments to support accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting needs.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with site and corporate personnel.
  • Communicate financial information clearly and professionally to both accounting and nonaccounting personnel.
  • Continuous Improvement and Other Duties
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller or Gold Bar General Manager that are consistent with the position’s skills, knowledge, and level of responsibility.
  • Work additional hours as necessary to meet monthend close and reporting deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 25 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Previous mining or minesite accounting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with accounting or financial software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures applicable to the position.
  • Knowledge of applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and requirements.

Work Environments/Physical Demands:

  • Occasional travel to remote sites / Corporate.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with all the accounting team members.
  • Long hours of sitting and/or standing.
  • Work regularly on repetitive tasks.
  • Push, pull, lift at least 25lbs is required.
  • Frequent bending.
