About the Opportunity
Thrively has partnered with an established and highly respected financial technology company to identify a Director of Enterprise Data Engineering to lead one of the organization's most critical technology functions.
***This is a 3-days/week minimum in-office hybrid role. Office located in the Santa Monica/Playa Vista area***
This is a highly visible leadership opportunity responsible for the engineering, quality, governance, and modernization of the company's enterprise data platform. The successful candidate will oversee a large team of engineers responsible for delivering trusted, high-quality data that powers finance, operations, marketing, product, risk, compliance, and executive decision making across the organization.
This isn't simply a data warehouse leadership role. We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex enterprise data challenges, building high-performing engineering organizations, and driving strategy around data quality, governance, architecture, and modernization.
What You'll Own
You'll lead the engineering organization responsible for the company's enterprise data platform, including:
- Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)
- Operational Data Store (ODS)
- Enterprise data integration and ETL/ELT pipelines
- Data quality, observability, lineage, and governance
- Cloud-based data architecture and modernization
- Data platform scalability, resiliency, and performance
- AI-enabled data capabilities and intelligent automation
- Regulatory-grade data integrity across the enterprise
This leader partners closely with Technology, Product, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and executive leadership to ensure trusted, high-quality data is available across the business.
Leadership Responsibilities
You'll lead a large organization of Data Engineers, QA Engineers, and consulting partners while serving as one of the senior technical leaders within the technology organization.
Success in this role requires balancing strategic planning with technical credibility. While this is not a day-to-day coding position, you'll be expected to confidently guide architectural decisions, mentor engineers, review technical approaches, and occasionally develop proof-of-concepts when needed.
We're specifically looking for someone who enjoys coaching teams, developing future leaders, and creating an environment built around ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Technical Environment
Current technologies include many of the following:
- Informatica IDMC
- AWS Redshift
- Enterprise ETL / ELT Platforms
- Cloud Data Architecture
- SQL Optimization
- Data Governance Frameworks
- Data Quality & Lineage
- Metadata Management
- Python
- Jenkins / GitHub CI/CD
Experience with adjacent technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, Databricks, or other modern enterprise integration platforms is also highly valued.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in leaders who bring:
- 10+ years building enterprise data platforms
- Experience leading enterprise Data Engineering organizations
- Strong background in enterprise ETL / ELT and data integration
- Experience implementing Data Governance and Data Quality initiatives
- Deep understanding of enterprise data architecture
- Proven success leading large technical teams
- Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working in regulated industries such as Financial Services, FinTech, Healthcare, Insurance, or other highly governed environments
